CFA program in India
Posted by: surfer (IP Logged)

Anybody aware of the latest status of the CFA program in India? about 15 days back I heard that they were not registering candidates who had given their correspondence addresses in India and about 5 days back I heard that they have started refunding the fees for all those candidates who had enrolled for the June 2007 exam but had not sat for the exam. Any news for December 2007 registrations?

i think they are having a conflict with ICFAI and therefore AICTE has told them to stop granting CFA designation in India. can anyone please explain what exactly is the issue and what is the current status?

Inspite of the ICFAI's best efforts the CFA exams [www.cfainstitute.org] were held in India and I am confident that they will be held in the future also. In this time of globalisation we cannot afford to be left behind in the financial arena. Also, AICTE [www.aicte.ernet.in] is doing a great disservice to the country by putting obstacles in the way of students who want to earn the globally recognised CFA designation instead of the copycat ICFAI designation. There are many second class MBA institutes which have been approved by AICTE to offer the MBA course but the world class ISB [isb.edu] at Hyderabad and the CFA institute are not yet approved. Our country is progressing inspite of the government institutions and not because of them.

ravi,
are you aware that there will be no level 1 exam in india this december, and u cannot even go out and take it as cfa institute is not accepting registrations from any indian candidate.. i think they aare pissed off due to the attitude of the government due to which they have already faced so many problems in india

Ravi
The CFA Institute recommends that a candidate spends approx. 250 hours preparing for each level. If you are planning to give the Level I exam in Dec. you can plan accordingly. The two study material providers which are recognised worldwide are Schweser and Stalla. From Dec. onwards the CFAI has made it mandatory to purchase their material. hope this info was useful for you.

please note that there is only one valid CFA program in india and that is from ICFAI.. now even courts and AICTE have ruled it and have packed the bags of american cfa... if you are an indian, then instead of whining about it you should be proud of it.

kingkhan,
The complete CFA program of ICFAI is nowehere close to even level 1 of American CFA. If you want to really learn and compete in the global world then u need to get the best i.e. American CFA and not a so called CFA from some local institute like ICFAI... dude get this thing into your head before its too late.

I highly appreciate the sense of neutralism shown by Mr. Indianstud.

I think He is one of those indians who hasn't yet got rid of the slavery life style even after 60 years of independence. It is really a matter of disgrace when people, without any reasons & without knowing the details of things, prefer foreign things. They prefer foreign language, foreign authors, foreign books & now foreign charters also.

I really am in no mood to get into any long & detail discussions on this but one of the unknowns requested me to express my opinion on this subject & i am just honoring her.

I expect people to speak only on issues they know all about. else.. please take some rest.

I would like to inform all the participants of this forum that today (ie on the 11th of July) there was a hearing in the Delhi high court in the matter of the CFAI vs the AICTE and the next hearing is to be held on the 7th of August 2007.

Arihant
That AIMR joke was really funny. As regards the future in India of CFAI vs ICFAI let us wait and see who has the last laugh.
